Why you Should use the Big GC Stickers on your Ammo Box!

Postby Gruizzer » Mon Mar 09, 2009 7:30 pm

Wow! I just read this log in one in one of my caches. We now live in a time when everyone is terrorified, this goes to show you should ALWAYS make sure your ammo cans have the big GeoCache stickers!!

Found this- my first- cache without meaning to :) Went walking with the dog, and we went a bit off the path to avoid a family of bicyclists. I noticed a metal box; upon closer inspection, it was a ammo box! I rang my husband, as I was not sure what to do- wasn't sure if I should ring the police, should I touch it or is it liable to explode (we just moved from Ireland, where a ammo box find would mean suspected terrorists...). He told me to pick it up and see if anything was in it. As I did so, I saw a big green sticker on the other side, saying "OFFICIAL GEOCACHE" :) I had heard about geocaching before but never joined, but decided this is a sign I should- it'll give me an incentive to explore the local area a bit more. I took the little tickes keyfop, as I have 13 months old twins, and left a d10 dice and a small Irish coin. o

I don't know what's worse. The fact that her first thought was terrorists, or that her husband's was "pick it up"???

Somewhere in Northwest Arkansas is a nice Irish-American woman with an extraordinarily large life insurance policy.

Yeah that was me *looks sheepish* My husband couldn't stop laughing!

This probably wouldn't have happened if I was from the area, as hunting and guns are part of the culture here. But as I said in the log, in Ireland (where no-one has guns, not even the police) finding ammo/ an ammo container in the woods would mean there is probably an IRA camp nearby... sad but true.
