While we were out geocaching today, the thought struck me that the new GC numbers being issued were in the area of GC1Wxxx.
Well, when we started caching, I knew that the numbers were before GCWxxx, so I had Rhonda do the math -- dang, at least 900,000 number issued.
so, when we got home, I just had to look it up. When we started on 11-24-2004, the numbers being issued were in the neighborhood of GCM4WD. Today, its GC1Xxxx. That's over 1.1 million cache numbers issued. And, we've only found a little over 2,000 of them. How's that for inadequate?
By the way, in case anybody wants to do the math for themselves, groundspeak uses a base 31 number/letter system.
