The new challenges

If it's about geocaching -- Let's hear it

The new challenges

well, i'm woefully underimpressed. much potential, impossible to search or sort through them, and NO oversight at all on them.

Anyway, I made one to make one, if anyone wants to try one out that isn't completely pointless.

Sorry, it may just be me, but the verbiage doesn't make any sense. I can't tell what it takes to complete the challenge.

take a picture with you and the train. I'll try to clarify it.

But seriously, you should have seen what was coming out before they started archiving everything and their dog.

*edit* oh wait, I can't. once it's been accepted, I can never edit it.

Another stupid thing.

I've been dreading this day since the day they said they'd bring back virtuals. I don't believe virtuals belong as geocaches (nor do earthcaches), mainly because there's no physical container, therefore they don't fulfill the definition of a "cache". From what I've read so far, many people are disappointed with the way this has been implemented.

I'm not so sure the "can't edit it" is a bad thing. Maybe, as time goes on, people will make an effort to get it right the first time, knowing that the challenge will have to stand on its own merits, or get killed by the community. At least that process should weed out the stupid ones you mentioned.

I have looked at the two that have been created in Ft Smith. Don't know if I will log completed on them or not. I do not want this to count in my finds total. I have found and logged a lot of the virtuals that are already in place. And liked a lot of them. It is like the temporary caches at events. The first year I attended 3 events and logged these. Now I can't get rid of them without messing up my milestones. So I don't want the challenge caches to count as a find. Maybe a seperate game.

They set it up nicely with it's own counter on your profile. I'd LOVE to see a counter for BM's like that as well.

Groundspeak is just so....inconsistant with how they deal with things.

Not a big fan of this change and it being included in the find count. Groundspeak should have made Challenges its own entity like Waymarking.com or Whereigo.com imo. All i see is a whole lot of abuse in the near-future. A lot of them sound like the ALR that were already banded from geocaching.

OK, I couldn't resist it and had to publish the first challenge in this corner of NW Arkansas.
