Sent from my mobile device

Pasted below is the text of an email that Old River Runner sends to people who log finds of his caches with nothing, or with only "Sent from my mobile device". This is from a discussion of the trend where people are getting lazy about logging.

I’m glad to see that you have found several of my caches. However, since you are a new geocacher, you may not be aware of this, but it would be so rewarding to me as a cache owner if you would spend a little more time logging about your experience in finding the caches on the website. The only benefit I get for my time and trouble in placing and maintaining a cache is the electronic log recorded on the Geocaching.com website when a geocacher finds it. "Sent from my mobile device" is the worst possible log you could write. In fact, it is down right lazy since you didn't actually write it. You just pressed a button on your phone without typing anything in. Some cache owners delete logs like that. I don't think that I will, but I would appreciate it if you would go back and revise your logs and take more time in the future when you log a find. I and other cache owners would appreciate it. It's just a matter of geocaching etiquette that you need to be aware of.

Respectfully,

I certainly find it annoying as well. I suppose if I saw someone in the area doing it repeatedly I'd say something to them. Power trails are the only time I would say these logs are appropriate.

I saw that on the "other" forum as well.
When I first got into caching, all I would write was TFTC or nice hide, something along those lines.
I just did not know different. I never cosidered the Co going to as much trouble and expense
as they did.

Well one day I received an email from a gentlemen who proceeded to chew me out
for my writing of lazy logs. He told me his caches were more worthy than just TFTC and such.

I emailed him back and requested we meet in person and discuss it.

So long story short, that's how I met Cardinal and we've been caching together
ever since. Today we had a long cache run planned, but I found out I had to be in FT Smith
to work. First time either of us ever cancelled on each other.

Back to the topic of logging a cache. If I find a cache and cannot say a few good words about, I just sign
the logsheet and do not log online.I know I found it, and no ones gets emotional over a bad log.
