NWA MegaEvent - Can we? Should We?

Postby *TnT* » Sun Jan 13, 2008 1:04 pm

After the huge success of the event in Paris this weekend, it got me to wondering if we, as a group, could put on something as hugely successful as that one. I think we could if we all worked at it together.

OK, if we want to try this, we should start by thinking when and where.

As for the when, we should realize that the Paris event happens in Jan, the Clarksville event in April. I believe OENavigators are planning to do another event in Ft. Smith around July, so that pretty much leaves the fall for us.

As for where, I know that Memorial Park in Bentonville has a covered pavilion we could probably get, what about Sprindale, Fayetteville?

Who want to do this? Thoughts??

Volunteering for duty! :D We'll jump in and say that sounds great and we'll do whatever is necessary.

I had been thinking the same thing for some time. I would suggest Tyson park in Springdale if not Bentonville. The fall would give us plenty of time to plan, and cachers time to make arrangements. I'd be willing to help as well.

There has been talk about another WWFM on May 10th. If they do have it, I would host it again. Just not sure where.

I almost had an event last October and planned on calling it "Cachetober Fest" but some things got into the way and we did not have it.

We did decide to have our 2nd event in January again and probably will stick with that year after year.

I would be happy to help when and where I could and of course my mind is always ready to be picked.

My wife and I talked it over and we've scrubbed all our plans for an event this summer so it could be held around then.

We're sorry to hear that you've decided to not do it. Rhonda and I really had a good time there last year.

Yeah it was a blast. But after attending more events and really understanding some things said at ours we really decided that it wasn't worth it. Bonus, it frees up time for the first annual NWAC event.

It's hotter that time of year but less chance of rain

Well after much deliberation we've decided to go ahead with our summer "Eventpalooza!"

Same venue and basic set up (Ben Geren park in Fort Smith, pot luck..etc)

I have a whole new batch of activities planned though. There will not be a runway walk. (sorry Mike)

We'll need some volunteers though to help it run smoothly. We'll have some kids activities and need someone to help make sure all the TB's get logged properly. Thinking about having some printed literature there explaining how for cachers to take.

I'm also looking for a large stuffed goat. Don't ask.

So clear your summer calender and put your bail bondsman on speed dial. This is going to be fun!
