What does it need?

Postby Ambuscher » Mon Feb 04, 2008 6:20 am

I'm new to the pda thing. I was just wondering what function the unit had to have to be able to use it for geocaching. I've been surfing on eBay looking for something that I can use. LOL I've bought one already and might as well throw it in the trash.(worked just didn't have on it what I needed.) Thanks for any imput.

Hey Frank,
Almost any PDA will work, as long as it has the Palm OS (operating system) and you have the cables to hot synch it to your computer.

The only other think you need is cachemate, which you can download from www.smittyware.com (I think it costs $8 to register it) I'm not sure if its fully functional if you don't register it.

Finally, you'll need a program such as EasyGPS (free), or GSAK (nearly free and much more functional) to convert the gpx files to files cachemate can regognize.

If you need any more help, let me know.

Hope it doesn't need anything like this in it.

Don't know what I did wrong. It was for a memory card that listed for $11,000,004.95
