This challenge will begin July 15th and continue until someone amasses 25 points (the first month will be short and no bonus caches)
The challenge is to find and log forgotten caches.
A forgotten cache is defined as one that hasn’t had a “Found It” log within the past 3 months. Example: Today is Oct. 29. Last “found” log is July 29. The cache is classified as “forgotten”. If the “found” log was July 30, the cache is not yet “forgotten”.
The Rules
1. The contest is open to all members of NWAC.
2. Only caches of the types traditional, multi and mystery may be claimed.
3. Forgotten caches from anywhere may be claimed.
4. You can only claim caches you’ve not found before.
5. You cannot claim caches you own.
6. You must post your claim to the nwacachers.com FCC forum within three days of finding the cache.
7. The cache must be there to be found. You cannot replace the cache (even with owner’s permission) and still claim it as a forgotten cache.
8. YOU must sign the log sheet to claim the cache. You may place a new log in the cache for this purpose if the old one is full, damaged, etc.
9. Only the first 5 Forgotten caches you claim each month will count towards your score.
Scoring:
1 point will be awarded for each complete month the cache has been forgotten – with no maximum.
Bonus points: Each month, 1 cache in Benton/Washington counties plus 1 in Crawford/Sebastian counties will be designated as the bonus caches. Double points for the first to log a find on these two caches and half points for logging a DNF on them (up until found). Rules 4 and 5 apply to the bonus caches. (The bonus caches do not count towards your 5 allowed per month)
Each month’s winner will be awarded 5 points, second place 3 points, third place 2 points and all others to find a forgotten cache during the month 1 point. If two or more tie for a position, they’ll split the points for their positions. For example, jaygill and geniegill tie for first: for the month they’ll split the first (5 points) and second (3 points) place points, giving each 4 points for the month. Or, if jaygill, geniegill and yazzman tie for second place they’ll split second (3), third (2) and all other (1) points, giving each 2 points.
Tiebreaker:
If at the end of the final month, 2 or more cachers tie with a score of 25 or more, a tiebreaker will determine the ultimate winner as follows:
1. Most “forgotten” caches found during the period.
2. Forgotten cache with the longest “forgotten” period.
3. Most monthly wins.
4. Most Forgotten cache with a “placed” date in 2010, followed by most placed in 2009, etc.
The contest will be over when someone reaches 25 points.
I reserve the right to change and/or clarify these rules as circumstances warrant.
