Geocaching Being Used as Tool Of Criminals

Postby Gruizzer on Tue Mar 09, 2010 9:34 pm

Im getting really tired of our game being used as the center of criminal activity. No one is going to want to play if this keeps up.
Im an avid LOST fan and tonite after watching Lost, I left the TV on ABC and a series called The Forgotten came on. The central plot of the episode is they are trying to find a killer who is using caches and their coordinates to lead them on a goose chase, and the killer evidently left the bones of a young child in an ammo can cache.Except in the show they call it Globocaching, and the travel bugs are "travel hoppers". This is sickening!

What can we do to stop everyone from using Geocaching so negatively?!...

I went to ABC web site to provide you guys a link, and it seems the show is being cancelled. Thats good....

Anyway I guess people twist things all the time, but I hate seeing stuff like this.... thanks for letting me rant... :x

We watched the show. If I remember correctly, Law and Order had an episode not too long ago that portrayed it basically the same way. At least, with "The Forgotten", they portrayed it relatively accurately. (Setting the criminal activity aside)

Sorry to hear the show is being cancelled -- we liked it.

I too liked the forgotten and seen the show. Keep in mind the reason that geocaching was used was because it is on such a quick rise to being very very popular and those kind of shows always like to cash in on the latest or future trends. I figure we will be seeing more geocaching on TV and at the movies
