Be sure to read the cache listing requirements/guidelines also.

Ensuring that your cache follows the five steps to hiding a cache and the listing requirements will allow for an enjoyable experience for both you and the many geocachers who will seek your cache.

This link is absolutely essential for everyone new to the game. I think it should be required reading before being allowed to place a cache.
