This has been discussed at some length on both the arkgeo forums and the groundspeak forums.

Any part of "banned in some states" is of course inaccurate. While cached is "not allowed" in some state parks and on federal lands, "BANNED" is not the right word.

As for Conway, they're working with the police down there, and in fact, he and the fire chief have asked to be taken geocaching.

There will always be things like this happening. The important thing to take from this is to be aware of where you're placing your caches and what a geocacher looks like when they're looking for it.

Mark your caches, especially your ammo cans plainly with some identification of it as a geocache.

Remember, with the threat of terrorisism we must live with these days, the police and bomb squads are going to err on the side of caution. Better to blow up some broken McToys than have a bridge or airport (or a LEO) taken out by a terrorist.
