One of the things that gets us upset is folks not properly/timely logging TBs. I can't begin to say how many times we've visited a cache that has a TB listed on the cache page, only to find out it had been taken some time ago.
A TB/Geocoin is the property of somebody and taking it without paying the price of doing so (timely ogging it so the owner knows where his property is) is nothing short of stealing. It only takes a few seconds to log the TB. If you don't know how, see our post about Properly Logging a Geocoin/TB in the geocaching 101 forum. We like to log the TBs we pick up at the same time we log the caches. It's a simple courtesy to let the TB owner know his bug is on the move.
On the same subject, the problem of the TB being listed on the cache page could be fixed by the cache owner if they were properly maintaining there caches. If several cachers in a row report in their logs that TB xxx isn't in the cache, all the cache owner has to do is check his cache to verify and then go to that TBs cache page and mark it as missing. If we can tell, we'll include in the "Missing" note that it was picked up by cacher yyy. By marking the TB as missing, it removes it from your cache and puts it in an "unknown" location. If it's subsequently logged, nothing is lost.
It's simple -- If you pick up a TB, log it. (If possible, the same day)
If you own a cache from which a TB has gone missing, mark the TB as missing.
Another thing about TBs we've noticed lately is people "mining" them. By this, we mean going to a cache you've previously found just to pick up a coin/TB -- presumably to get the icon and to place it in a cache closer to you. If you can't help the coin/TB on its mission, why would somebody do this? And then, we've notice some people "mine" TBs and hold on to them for extended lengths of time so that nobody can move them.
