Our Mingo Trip

Postby *TnT* » Fri Sep 03, 2010 4:56 pm

We've just gotten back from our Mingo trip. 7 days, 2200 miles, 8 states and 91 caches.

We went to Kansas to get Mingo, Nebraska to add a new state to our "states cached in" list. Then to Wyoming to add another state and to check our GPS's calibration. Then into Colorado to add another state and visit some relatives. We also added a couple of cache finds at an altitude of 14000 + feet (atop Pike's Peak). Then into New Mexico to add yet another state to the list. From there, into Texas to go over 1000 finds in that state. Finally, Oklahoma and back into Arkansas.

All in all, we had a great time. Next time, we think we'll go in another direction.

Sounds like y'all had a great trip! How many caches have you found above 14,000 feet?

Top three caches from the trip?

Sounds like an awesome trip. Glad that the trip was possible for you and Rhonda. Tell us some of the highlights of your trip. And we are glad you are safely back home.

Let me see, top 3 caches? Either one of the two we found on Pikes Peak. One decon container and one virtual. Also, GC2BZ0E, which we may bring to the area and Bug Ranch GCDB98. Its hard to believe that Mingo has lasted as long as it has, since its only 100 yards from the interstate, plus there's a definite geotrail leading to it. We had a great time, but were sure glad to get home.

Sounds like a great time and congrats on the caching achievement! I went to the top of Pike's Peak back in the mid-nineties. I still remember my ears popping (painfully) on our drive back down. Now if I could just convince my wife into a road trip to Mingo ;-) Kudos.
