All right everyone. this is where we begin asking for your help with the event. So far, there has been a not insubstantial financial outlay made for this event.

Now, we're not asking for money, we're just asking that you do something to help.

One of the main things we're going to need is to have 30 caches placed throughout Washington and Benton counties. We thought that if 10 people each volunteered to place 3, that wouldn't place much of a burden on any single person and would most likely have the added benefit of spreading them out throughout the two counties. After all, we don't want anyone to actually be able to find them all before the event, we want them to have to strategize. We also hope that we can get a variety of caches hidden -- traditionals, multis, puzzles along with sizes from micros to ammo cans.

Obviously, these cache placements don't have to be made this weekend or even this month, but we would like to have a list of names we know we can count on to get the job done. I will have some guidelines available for anyone who will help.

There are many other things that are going to be done between now and when the event is over, so start thinking about what you can contribute -- from prizes to your time.

Only with your help can we make this into the best event in the state.

I'd be happy to hide three, I just got some more ammo cans. I'd prefer to do traditionals small- large, not too difficult, though I might challenge myself with hiding a puzzle cache :)
I assume you'd want these hidden preferably close to the date of the event, so not too many cachers find them before?

Penguin - The thirty caches hidden for the event will be published by Chuck Walla the morning of the event, so nobody can get an upper-hand as to there locations and all other information about them.

TnT - I'll most definitely be hiding three caches for this event.

Everyone else - This event is going to rock, I'm really excited about it and it's still two months away. Caching from morning until the afternoon event in the cool, autumn air... with thirty new caches in the area. Then good food, good people, and another cool game as well... what more could you ask for really?

If you've never attended an event before, then you need to plan on coming out to this one!

I plan on placing at least 3 ammo can caches north of Crawford County for the event. I will also donate 5 painted ammo cans.

Sounds great Jay, I know your caches will be bit hits - both the hides (probably good puzzle caches) and the donated ones.

Quick questions:
- When in the morning will the caches be "live"? I've been scouting locations and a couple of the places would only be available during the day (such as a gated park with opening hours). If the caches for this event go live at midnight or, say, 4am I might stay away from such places for this time.
- Is it true that you should not put TBs or geocoins in unpublished caches because experiences cachers can find the cache location that way, before the cache is published?

Question number 1. We've worked with Chuch Walla so that if the caches are submitted ahead of time -- around a week, he will review them early. This will give the hider time to correct any issues that may arise with the placement -- proximity, permission, etc. Then, all 30 of them (approximate number) will be published around 9 AM.

(I have a semi-briefing written up for everyone who will be placing caches for the event. It includes verbage for CW)

Question 2 -- Yes, it's possible, but difficult and very rare. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I probably wouldn't use the term (experienced cacher) so much as I would "cacher with nothing better to do)

All right, its now about 5 weeks to the event and the only people who've commited to hiding caches are: *TnT*, ARLT1YJ and jaygill.

That's 3, so only 7 more people needed. Penguin-AR has hinted, but not commited. Who else is going to help?

I'll give it one more week and then start emailing people begging for help. And having to resort to that doesn't make me feel good about the state of caching in NWA.

Alright.
Add debmitc with 3 and redink with 2 or 3. That's what I like to hear.

Please see the other thread in this forum regarding hiding your caches for the event.
