Northwest Arkansas event in sync with the world

Postby Gratefulldad » Sat Oct 27, 2007 8:21 pm

I just had my first event posted. It is a World Wide Flash Mob (WWFM) It is coordinated to occur at exactly the same time with about 75 other events around the world. It will only offically last 15 min. but we can meet casually afterward and have lunch and/or do a few caches together. The cache # is GC16Z6F and could use some help. If you are interested let me know. Also if you are planning to attend, post a note with the cache. This should be a lot of fun. :D Hope to see everyone there.

I'll be there, but Rhonda can't make it. You might want to post the link to the WWFM events on the cache page so everyone can see how big a thing this has gotten to be.

To the best of my knowledge, this is the second time this type of event has been done in synch like this.

I have a question on the where.
WHERE: Pinnicle Hills Mall, Rogers, Arkansas

Is the location at the new outside mall, that is actually called Promenade Mall, or the big shopping center at Pinnacle Hills?

Ok, I see your question. The mall is the new one on the east side of the expressway. The outdoor mall with the movie theater. Its correct full name is "Pinnacle Hills Promenade". The coords. are just west of the fountain.

What's funny is, if you look at google maps satellite image, it shows we will meet in the middle of a dirt and grass field. :D

If I'm not mistaken, Google's satellite images are taken from Terraserver and I don't think they get updated all that often. There are still plenty of areas where you can't get any detail from them at all.

Google satellite images show a tree in my front yard that I cut down a long time ago. I wish they would update more frequently because I use it often, even on my job.

Ok, I talked to my friend and he is interested in filming our WWFM event! Who knows what that may lead us to! He was the one I was telling you about that may get to do a segment on the Travel Channel about geo-caching.

That gave me an idea. Anyone up to make a banner/sign for NWAC?

Also I want to let everyone know that in addition to the drawing prizes some of the stores have donated, tommorrow if you show them a gps Dairy Queen will be giving 10% off , and 10 % off a pretzel at Auntie Anne's.

The big event is tomorrow. I'm going to guess that there will be more than 30 people there. It should be a good time for all.

A great chance to put some faces with some of the names you've been seeing here on the forums.

See you all tomorrow.

I was just thinking... its kind of ironic we are having this event at a place that has banned geo-caches! HA!!

Yeah, I like that part too.

And we won't be welcomed back if Ninjaguy brings his wood and lighter fluid. I wonder how many cachers can fit into a jail cell?

Hmmm. That gives me an idea for the next event.

This turned out to better attended and more fun than I think anybody could have expected. Thanks for all the work you put into it.

Now, who's going to step up and host the next NWAC event? Say about mid-January? How does that sound?
