With the new release today at geocaching.com, groundspeak added a couple of features many people have been asking for for a long time.

1. Geocaching favorites: It appears that for every 10 finds a premium member makes, they can mark one cache in their caching history as a favorite. All members will be able to see the number of favorites on the cache page and on searches. I believe that plans are for premium members to be able to filter pocket queries by number of favorites markings. Should help pick out which caches to look for when traveling. Go Here to learn more.

2. Statistics: With groundspeaks recent purchase of mygeocachingprofile.com, we had to know this was coming. Your profile now contains a "Statistics" tab that automatically generates from your found caches. Hopefully, they get the graphics sorted out on this, because right now it doesn't look very nice.

stats page is terrible in firefox, the new forum graphics are terrible (the icons for each of the main forums are gone) the beta map (which has much potential) isn't currently updated with all current caches and your finds don't show as found.

they have a lot of work to do.

Looks like they got the FF formatting fixed. It now looks good. Just wish I knew what happened to my watchlist

If you have a cache 'favorited' by someone, do you receive a message from gc.com? If so, Ron's inbox will be blowing up!

none of mine are favorited..yet, so I can't tell you about that. Still hate the new forums.

I'm definitely glad to see the new rating system and I think it will work a lot better than the alternative "rate every cache 1-5". I just finished shelling out all my favorites pts. I was fine without the extra stats since I do mine easily through GSAK anyways, but they're nice to have. Agreed, the new forums suck...bad.

I have so many favorite points, I am pretty sure I'm not going to use them all.

Also, I did post in their feedback area (which is also hideous, but that's another story)

Any support from other people about the forum format would be greatly appreciated. I started a thread called 'change the forums back' just search off the words forum in the geocaching.com feedback area (reachable off of the forums, if you can find it.)

My impression was that one fav per 10 finds was way too many. 1 for 25, or even 1 for 50 would make them much more meaningful. I didn't think the forums were that bad. The blog and the feedback forums are what I don't like, and they changed a few months back. The only forum I used to read was the web site feedback and its horrible now.

I came up with an ideal today on my favorite points. When I find 10 caches and earn a favorite point, I am going to pick one of the 10 caches I just found and award a point to it. It may not be so much the cache but maybe it will be the favorite area I was in or something special I saw there. This will take care of the new points but what I will do with the other 400 I don't know.

The trouble with that for us, is that the day after thanksgiving, we did the Americana Highway power trail. We found 173 of the 174 and wouldn't give a favorite to any one of them.

Yes on some of the power trails it would be a problem picking a favorite.

I've kind of been doing something similar, though not very strictly. If I go caching in a particular area with multiple caches, I'll at least add one as a favorite.

I've decided I'm only favoriting my top 1 or 2%.....just because I'm too lazy to figure out every one I want to 'favorite'
