muggles strike again!

Postby fishigfool60 » Mon Oct 18, 2010 6:14 am

In case you haven't heard, someone {a muggle} called in a bomb threat for a cache hidden in Lincoln,Ar. the other day. We need to find some way to inform the public we are not terrorist only thrill seekers looking for fun and adventure. Any thoughts on how to inform the poor, scared public? They would really panic if they knew how many containers were hidden in the area!

I've found that cache. It's nowhere near any schools, building, or anything of significance that someone might "target". I don't know who in there right mine would think someone would want to blow up a pine tree in a middle of a cemetery. I can understand someone calling the cops to report a suspicious individual or an odd container next to a court building, but not something like this.

Geocachers -- -a new breed of terriosts. Next will be a rock pile in an abandoned park. I was doing a cache on sunday when a deputy sheriff pulled up. He asked if I had found it yet. ? Was funny because he was the cache owner and it was on the road to his house.

I was in a park once walking towards gz when a lady walking her dog asked what I was doing in "her" park. At that point, I was just walking, not even searching for the cache yet. I said "excuse me"? She said that she always questioned people she didn't recognize because she was the self-appointed neighborhood watch. Usually I explain GC to the curious, but I hated her attitude. I told her it was none of her business what I was doing in the park. She said she was going to call the police if I didn't answer her. I said "Fine, call. They can explain to me what law I'm breaking by being on public property during the posted hours, and then they can give you a ticket since the sign at the gate clearly says "No Dogs Allowed"". She stared at me for a minute and then left. I probably wasn't the best ambassador for GC that day, but at the time I didn't care. My point being, there will always be busy-bodies like that lady who always want to rain on someone else's parade.

This is the first Id heard about this. Guess I don't watch the news enough! what was the GC code for this one? I hope the CO didnt get in any trouble. but i guess it goes back to asking for permission to place caches.

Did anyone here how the town meeting turned out? Seems everyone that was interested ended up having conflicts from work and didn't get to go. Was curious since they where talking about banning cache hides in the town of Lincoln.
