Log deleted, what would you do ?

If it's about geocaching -- Let's hear it

Postby Jffok » Mon Mar 16, 2009 4:25 pm

I am definitely a newbie at geocaching but comment that was added to the cache description was in very poor taste. Everybody plays the game differently but the trackables belong to the people who bought them and anyone geocaching can pick them up and move them. I currently only own 4 geocoins and when I place them I know that they may wind up muggled but I guess that is just part of it. Anyway I hope it works out to where you can claim your first to find without the log being deleted. The trackables have nothing to do with you being the FTF. Good Luck.

Okay,
I am going to jump in here, if I offend anyone my apologies in advance.

This person may have played the game for years and not logged all his finds, I do not log all my finds and know a few other cachers that do the same. Numbers are exactly that, just numbers. You are playing against yourself and no one else, so what does it matter.

There are several pioneers of caching that are still active in our part of the
state, such as MooreMonkeys, D. Medlyn, and Ruffrider, that are still signing the logs, but not online.

Personally I feel they believe that caching was supposed to take you to an interesting place, show you some great scenery and take a small but pleasurable hike through the woods.

I have only had one logged deleted, I stated my opinion in the online log
got a slight spanking for doing so, but I feel that it wrong for using a discarded headstone for hiding a cache. I knew I had made the find and so did the hider,it only took one find off my tally, so big deal.

I have been playing for about 4-5 years, with just sligtly over 200 finds showing on my tally sheet, who really cares. Take the advice of TNT and play the game to your standards and to no ones else. As you can tell this was not edited for spellin".

In closing this thread does give me an idea for an ALR cache so look fot it soon. Red Ink

That is rude. I agree with OE log it every day as a daily routine.

I sent the person an email so sweet, it could kill a non diabetic. He's replied saying that I can relog the find without "spoilers" but, still wants me to understand HIS point of view on the trackables. He seems to think that trackables are trade/swag items, and are supposed to be traded as such. I have emailed him my edited log to make sure tis satisfactory to him before reposting it to the cache. He has since removed the "bad taste" note from the listing concerning taking one bug.

I appreciate that everyone has their own opinions, and thank you all for sharing yours. We DO play the game our own way, as we see fit. I just wish others would realize that too.
