Lincoln Lake Open House Nov. 22-08

Come join us for our open house at Lincoln Lake City Park. This will be a full day of fun with guided mountain bike rides and guided hikes. Other recreational opportunities include canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, and geocaching. We have 400 acres to play on and the area has spectacular scenery with fantastic photography opportunities. The completed trails are Eagle View Loop which is an out and back with two loops near Eagle View Overlook that will take you between two bluff lines with an exciting ride along the edge. This trail will also test your balance skills in places. Trail length is about 3 miles. Piney Loop which is an out and back with one loop that shoots through a pine forest with great slalom type trails. You will find many bog bridges here. Piney Loop is about 4 miles. The trails are technical in places and easy in places. There are rocks to go over in areas and smooth piney trails in others. It's quite a combination of terrain. There are several good Geochaces planted in the park. We are in hopes to complete the hiking trail all the way around the lake be the Spring, but you can hike it now by just keeping the lake in sight. We have great places to climb. Rock climbers come from all over to climb here and many routs are bolted. The lake is very beautiful and popular with fishermen. Some of the park rules are no gas motors on the lake, NO ATV"S IN THE PARK. No horses are allowed on the trails. At the present time the city allows free camping but this may change due to some people who won't clean up after themselves. We will start the activities at 10:00 am on Saturday November the 22nd. To get to the park take Hwy 62 West from Fayetteville. Go 20 miles to Lincoln. Turn North on county 669 (watch for Lincoln Lake signs) Drive about 4 miles to the lake. For more information email David Justice at djustice@fayar.net

P.S. While folks are in Lincoln I highly suggest the City Cafe on the square. They have country breakfasts and great dinners at a very good price. I think they serve catfish on Saturdays.
