Lake Wilson

If it's about geocaching -- Let's hear it

Lake Wilson

Postby Jffok » Tue Aug 24, 2010 7:22 am

Anyone interested in doing the east side of the lake Wilson series. I have done the west side and have done my caculations on the east side. I am pretty sure I can get within a findable distance of the caches. If anyone is interested now that the weather is begining to cool down let me know. I am not a race hiker but just take a comfortable pace at it.

short answer: yes

long answer: I may not have time to do them until MAYBE......October or November. There's a lot of mystery caches up near Fayetteville that I'd love to stab at. Did you get my note I sent you through the geocaching email?

Judy,
I would like to join up, even though I tested the series for Cardinal and it was enjoyable,
I would like to try it again at a much slower pace. I was somewhat hurried in my quest due
to driving down there after work and trying to get out of the woods before dark.

I would like to encouarge others to join up. It's a great series and the East side
is really beautiul, with plenty of game to see. I hope our schedules will work out.

I definitely want it to be an enjoyable outing. Glad to know you must be off the crutches. I really enjoyed doing the west side of this series and I am looking forward to the east side. They are quality caches. Maybe we can get a group together.

I did the west side solo and I bet it would have been more enjoyable in a group (still had a great time though). I'm glad the heat has backed off a bit, but I think I'm going to wait for the fall's first morning chill to kill off some of the bugs before I go after any woodsy caches. I can tolerate the heat, but I can't stand walking through a spider web every 10 feet...suppose I could let someone else lead the way :P
Best of luck to all who attempt it this summer :-D

Nicodemus3 I did the west side solo as well and like you think a group would make even better. The west side was a great series and I am looking forward to doing the east.
Right now I think it is still a little bit too warm. What does everyone think about the last week in Sept. I am sure with people working that we will need to make it on Sat or on Sunday afternoon. But I am taking some vacation time then so can be pretty flexible.

You may not want to do it the weekend of the 25th. That's the Alabama game, and if the hogs are undefeated going into that game, Fayetteville will be plumb insane. October 2nd might be a better week to try this...you could navigate around Fay. if you wanted to get other caches or find a place for lunch in town that wasn't swamped.

Tenn. Tech, the ULM, then Georgia then Bama...it's actually possible if they can go to the hedges and win a game on the road.

Scary thought, isn't it.

Somebody should turn this into a bet and have to bring the cooler of refreshments. I'd throw my hat in but I really have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to football. On the other hand, the Hogs are the home team so my money is on them. Any other takers?

Hope I haven't missed something here but I was curious if this was still something that was on the table? I still have an interest in it and the weather is beginning to be a lot nicer now. Anyway, I was just curious, If I've missed something let me know.

we are still planning a trip back to Lake Wilson. Edieo has an injuried foot and we are waiting on it to heal some. dullarrow will also be joining us. We will do both sides of lake Wilson. Yes the weather is getting right and the leaves are beginning to turn. I will send you a post as soon as I can get a date but if you get a chance to go sooner then don't wait for us. It is just more fun to do these in groups I think.
