This cache has yet to be published, but Cardinal is going to turn it loose soon
after meeting with the Fay. Parks Commission.
Somehow he has managed to find all the corners of the East side
of the lake using only his gps and his old, old topo maps.
He wanted me to test this series and I was more than eager.
I did not realize how much acreage the lake encompassed
on the East side. I knew the terrain was very tough after having some hides
of my own there.
Now for the fun, there are six, yes six corners on the east side,
all waypoints will be triangulation from Benchmarks.
The waypoints will be in distance only, no degrees will be given.
All six corners will have to be done from the field.
After finding said corner, you must the project a waypoint
that will lead to you to six very well hidden caches. In each cache
there will be a clue to help you find the finale.
I must mention that all the corners are cut crosses in rocks or trees.
It is pretty impressive to see a cut cross in a tree, that is probably about
eighty years old and the cut cross has "scabbed" over. It really is a sight to see.
This one will be for the hardcore cacher that will want to grow their skills
with a compass, map and gps. You can and will get turned around on this side of the lake.
The ticks and snakes are plentiful. I do not personally believe all the caches can be found
in one outing. Here are the suggestions I would make.
Have plenty of water, you will need it!
Have a good walking staff.
Have good and sturdy hiking boots.
Take plenty of DEET!!!!!
If your gps'r does not have a calculator, take one.
Print out a topo of the lake.
Take extra batteries and flashlights.
For your own safety BE SURE TO BRING A COMPASS AND TRUST IT!
Have a partner with you to help you with your bearings and calculations.
This is without a doubt the most challenging cache I've done,
both mentally and physically.
Total trips to the Lake=3
Total hunting time 10 hours plus.
A very well done series of caches and unique finds.
Who will be the FTF?
I will upload photo's with Steve's permission, of all the corners once it gets published.
