First to Find

Postby *TnT* » Sun Jan 04, 2009 5:57 pm

Many geocachers keep a constant eye on their computer / phone, waiting for an instant notification that a new cache has been published.

I'm wondering what is the greatest number of FTFs you've had in one day.

(For the record, we DO NOT leave the house attempting to get a FTF, but we've gotten 3 in a day on two occasions.)

Due to the incredibly intense FTF competition around us we just aren't fast enough to get many. We did manage a couple awhile back and I believe got three in a row back in '07.  :?

I don't know for sure if I have found more in one day but I do know that I found 4 in one day back in early 2008. I had 12 FTFs that week. Around here they are hard to come by.

Only gotten one FTF out of 87 caches; and that one still hasn't been found by anyone else. Rdemps (sp, sorry), do you know of any other caches around here similar to "Side of the Rock"?

Yeah, I may have another coming locally. I have to receive a few permissions.

Here are some others but not local.

I have three FTF's in one day a couple months ago. I am always keeping an eye and ear open to hear if I receive email and if tis for a new cache being published. If tis within 20-30 miles of here, and tis not too cold, I'm not too sick, I have enough gas, etc, etc, etc, I will 99% of the time run to find it. lol I think I have 23 FTF's since I started July 1st, 2008.

I got 6 FTF's at Devil's Den in August 27 08. I thought someone from northwest Arkansas would have got them first, being much closer. They had been posted for a couple days when I found.

I was happy to get 2 FTF's yesterday here in Springdale, my first time to get more than one a day, and my first one in over a year.

I just got my first and only First To Find last Saturday,by the graciousness of Jffok and JessN. We all arrived at the cache at the same time and they let me log it first. Bear in mind that I live with an avid First To Find person, don't get too many chances. (Remember my broke foot).

I only have 4 FTFs period in all the 4 1/2 yrs I've been doing this. One I went after on purpose because I didn't want ninjaguy to get it. One was ninjaguy's and I would have felt stupid if jaygill got it first because it was almost in my front yard. Sparky's was one but technically The Cachette #2 got it (I was busy trying not to step into anything) but didn't have an account yet and one was in OK at a museum and that was only because a newbie (she had only found 1 prior to this) got there and didn't really know what to look for so thought it was already missing. I really don't normally go after FTFs on purpose, but every once in a while I hope that I am. 8)

FTF

Postby Jffok » Wed Jan 07, 2009 11:22 pm

I have a total of 10 FTF's with 7 of them in one day. It is really hard to get them. I had 272 finds before I got a FTF. Been 2nd a couple of times but that doesn't really count.

Doug, if you ever want to do the Blowing Springs Bonus cave cache let me know. It has to be a pain to get to judging by all the commentary on the cache page, but that's the kind of cache that's worth getting in my opinion.

Perhaps the owners could accompany us as well, as I'm somewhat confused as to whether the cache is still there after reading Excursionist's post from March 15th.
