Devil's Den SP

If it's about geocaching -- Let's hear it

Devil's Den SP

Postby adairmd » Mon May 11, 2009 10:01 am

I'm from the Tulsa area, and plan on making a trip to Devil's Den. I want to do a little camping and caching. Does anyone know if they have tent pads on their camping sites? I went to Petit Jean, and loved their camping sites, just kind of wondering if they are kind of the same?

Thanks,
Dusty...aka...adairmd

I've stayed down at the fossil flats trail campground before, and would highly recommend staying there. There are tent pads, which consist of dirt topped with tiny gravel, and made for great sleeping. http://www.arkansasstateparks.com/park-finder/maps/files/asp_map_dd_fossil_flats.gif
Campground is marked A on this map.

You'll be camped pretty close to a creek, and should be close enough to easily go caching all along 540, and of course the Devil's Den caches.

I'm sure the ranger/visitor center helper has more info, and will tell you that all the campsites are nice down there.

Yes, the camp sites have tent pads, although there are some in area E that do not, they're the class AAA ones for RV's.

There are different levels of campsites, some with no utilities, some with water only, some with water and electrics, and some with water, electric and sewer hookups.

I don't know about Devil's Den Park but Lake Ft. Smith park nearby has all the camp site booked out for about a month or so in advance so you might want to check on available weekends at Devil's Den. It is a great park and popular place.
