Caching Karma

If it's about geocaching -- Let's hear it

Caching Karma

Postby *TnT* » Mon Jul 28, 2008 4:14 pm

What is caching Karma?

Simply put, its another of those numbers used in geocaching that really doesn't mean a whole lot, except to the individual geoacher. (Like # of finds)

In this case, it is the number of times your caches have been found, divided by the number of finds you have. (For example, if you have 5 caches placed and each has been found twice and you have 15 total found caches, your caching Karma would be "0.67".)

Since beginning to use the GSAk FindStatsGen macro, we've been watching our caching karma steadily rise.

Ours is presently 0.98 and this week, it should get to almost 1.0

So, just curious, what's yours?

We made it to a Karma of one. Our caches (and this doesn't count the event, which is owned by NWAC, not us) were found 47 times this past week. Overall, our caches have been found 1745 times to our 1742 caches found.

My caches have been found 569 times to my 273 finds.
CK = 2.08

Is that right?

The math sounds right. Now, you need to do two things.

1. Run this macro AddlogsMacro so your GSAK generated stats reflect the numbers and
2. Find more caches

I have a PQ that runs each week to update my owned caches. As long as there aren't more than (I think its) 10 logs per week, that keeps them updated. Otherwise, I run the macro above to add all logs that are missing. I also keep my owned/archived caches in my "owned" database.
