Wow, I haven't had a chance to go get this one since I collected the cords. I was surprised no one else had attempted it. I was trying to wait for a time when I could take my daughter with me. Every time we were going to go something always came up. I decided today I was going to go for it. Went a little different way than was suggested. Attempted from the reservoir side. I arrived about 8:30 am and was soon pumping up my raft. Just as I was heading to the water a truck pulled up with a boat. They asked what I was doing and I kind a explained it to them. I then asked them if they were going fishing or hunting and they responded nope we work for the city of Fort Smith. They said they were doing quality checks on the water. Well after they launched I jumped into my raft and was off. I was paddling and getting further and further from land but I was not going the direction I had intended. The wind was making it hard to row a straight line. Once I was neared the bluffs I was able to get control. After a 1 hour struggle with choppy water and wind I had reached a landing spot. Jumped out and followed a path to the cache location. I do have to say this cache will not be floating away anytime soon. Opened cache and instantly saw the gold mentioned in cache. I could not believe my eyes. I was not sure how I was going to get it back on my raft. While looking through the cache I noticed a chunk of silver and a green George, but no sign of the copper listed. After hiding the cache headed back to the raft. I had to take several breaks for the weight was unbearable. Once I got to my raft I noticed it was a little low. I assumed I had not tightend the caps tight. Got the pump out and pumped it back up. Got out off shore a ways and heard a sound I didn’t want to hear. A bubbling sound under me. I must have caught a log floating under me or poked it when I laid it on the shore. At this point with the weight of the gold on me I had to toss most of it over board leaving just a piece to show for my first to find. I knew with the wind blowing I could not go back the direction I had just came. I became a world class rower in seconds. With the assistance of the wind I made it back to shore in only 25 minutes. Thanked God I hadn’t sunk to the bottom of the reservoir. What a series of caches[}:)]. TFTC and another FTF....[:D]
