10 year events

Postby *TnT* » Sun Apr 04, 2010 8:11 am

For those of you who aren't aware of geocaching history, May 2 is the 10 year anniversary of the date selective availability of the GPS constellation was turned off. Thus began this great hobby we all enjoy. To celebrate the occasion, groundspeak is encouraging 10 year anniversary events all across the country -- some to be attended by groundspeak lackeys.

The closest events to us are: In Willard MO (near Springfield and In Russellville AR

Both promise to allow you to enjoy a little piece of geocaching history. The folks in both locations are amongst the best and friendliest you'll ever run across. Everyone should make every effort to try to make one of these. (We're shooting for Willard)

GroundSpeak has also announced that on May 2 they will increase the number of caches per pocket querry from 500 10 1000. Why a person would need that many at one time I can't imagine.

lol I wish they'd done that before my recent trip. I was running 76 PQ's JUST for Texas... Not including Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri...

Unfortunately, I won't be able to travel anywhere for a while unless we come across another large chunk of money. lol

168 if I counted right. 3800 miles. 5 new states to my "cached in" list. MS, LA, TX, KS, and MO. I'm 7 away from 800. :(

Did you meet your goals for the trip? Have you got them logged yet? In any event, congratulations.

I didn't get anywhere close. :( I wanted to reach 1k (had 625 when I left Springdale on the 18th) by the end of the trip but, I didn't do tis trip like past trips, so there was no way it would have happened. The next goal would have been 800 but, my flashlight started crapping out on me Friday night, so I gave up and came home. Haven't logged any yet. And still need to log trackable drops and pickups from Thursday/Friday. :(
