10-10-10 Geocaching Day

If it's about geocaching -- Let's hear it

10-10-10 Geocaching Day

Postby Ashallond » Tue Oct 05, 2010 10:28 pm

Groundspeak has been alluding to the fact that they want to get a massive number of finds on October 10th as part of their 10th anniversary celebration. It's also National Earthcache day (I had two bumper stickers saying as much sent to me recently from GSA.)

Anyway, I'm posting this out there because I WAS going to do a mini event to try to get people into Fort Smith to do the Busy Day cache I have on 10-10-10, but I forgot to make it, and I missed the deadline, so oh well.

Anyway, On the main forums they are talking about that you might want to cache on the 10th, as they just added the 'souvenir' page, and the powers that be aren't disputing the fact that there may be one automatically handed out to people who cache on that day.

(but if anyone wants to do the busy day challenge on the 10th, go for it. I've got a couple caches I plan on posting that day as it is.)

I won't have much time for caching this Sunday, but I've purposefully held off on grabbing an easy skirt-lifter that's recently published near me so that I could find it on the 10th.

Thanks for the tip on the souvenir page, I'll have to find a cache that day on vacation.

Speaking of which, there are tons of FC's out in California... I plan on making it impossible for CAK or JJfok to win this month. (If I can't win the contest, I've got to have a trophy for one month)

Thanks for the heads up on 10-10-10. I am going to make sure I find a few caches on that day.

There's a souvenier for 10-10-10 today. Go find a cache to get it.

I got my 10-10-10 souvenier icon today. Actually got it on a new cache hidden by Ashallond. Didn't get first to find but was after the icon and the smiley.

Got my icon for Sunday also. Was trying for 10 finds but ended up with 1 dnf. Still did my part to help set a new record for the day. Thanks again for the heads-up on the 10-10-10.
